Banyuwangi, located at the eastern tip of Java, Indonesia, is set to dazzle visitors in 2025 with its annual Banyuwangi Festival (B-Fest). This year-long celebration encompasses more than 80 events, showcasing the region’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and culinary excellence.

Bupati (Regent) Ipuk Fiestiandani invites travelers to immerse themselves in the festivities:

“Let’s schedule your vacation to Banyuwangi. Enjoy its nature, culture, cuisine, and of course, the exciting events of B-Fest 2025.”

Cultural Highlights:

  • Banyuwangi Ethno Carnival (BEC): Scheduled for July 12, this grand parade features participants in elaborate costumes inspired by local traditions. The 2025 theme, “Ngelukat,” reflects the Osing community’s purification rituals.

  • Gandrung Sewu: On October 25, thousands of dancers will perform the traditional Gandrung dance on the beach, celebrating love and gratitude.

  • Seblang Bakungan: Held on June 15, this trance dance ritual is performed by a chosen female dancer to cleanse the village of misfortune.

Sporting Events:

  • Tour de Banyuwangi Ijen (TDBI): From July 28 to 31, this international cycling race attracts competitors worldwide, offering challenging routes through scenic landscapes.

  • Ijen Green Run: On September 7, trail runners can experience the lush terrains surrounding Mount Ijen.

  • Gandrung Surf Competition: Surfers will gather from October 16 to 18 to ride the waves at Banyuwangi’s renowned beaches.

Culinary and Art Festivals:

  • Art Week and Culinary Festival: From July 9 to 12, visitors can indulge in local art exhibitions and savor traditional dishes.

  • Festival Lembah Ijen: Taking place from August 9 to 13, this event combines nature exploration with cultural performances in the Ijen Valley.

  • Banyuwangi Bersholawat: Concluding the year on December 31, this spiritual gathering features religious music and communal prayers.

B-Fest 2025 is not just a series of events; it’s a strategic initiative to boost local economy, infrastructure, and social development. With partial funding from the private sector, the festival aims to maintain high-quality experiences despite budget efficiencies.

“Kita libatkan semua pihak untuk menyokong B-Fest tahun ini. Meski ada efisiensi, saya kira tidak akan mengurangi kualitas dan kemeriahan dari Banyuwangi Festival. Justru akan terus kita tingkatkan secara kualitas,” said Bupati Ipuk, emphasizing collaborative efforts to enhance the festival’s quality.

Plan Your Visit:

With a diverse lineup of events, Banyuwangi Festival 2025 offers something for every traveler. Whether you’re a culture enthusiast, adventure seeker, or foodie, this festival promises unforgettable experiences. Mark your calendars and prepare to be enchanted by Banyuwangi’s charm.
